OPU

The Optoelectronic Processing Unit (OPU) forms the base of our proposed optical communication system to improve upon existing copper interconnects in massive data processing operations. The OPUs are the communication endpoints between various chips and structures. Connected to a data processing equipment would be the OPU-RX structure which is the receiver, and it is paired with an OPU-TX structure that is the transmitter. The OPU-RX and OPU-TX are connected via coherent image fiber.

UltraSPAC (Ultra Spatially Parallel ASIC)

By using micro-LEDs instead of lasers for optical communications, PhotonWeave is capable of implementing a temporal and spatial communication fabric rather than a purely temporal communication structure. Instead of having few high-speed lasers to transmit signals, UltraSPAC would instead use many sets of micro-LEDs at a moderate speed to deliver the same signals.
